Tradition and innovation since 1990
Founded in 1990 by Jürgen Schaffer, the company started out with a sales and service contract for the manufacturer HYMER, making it one of the first service workshops for recreational vehicles in eastern Germany. Since then, the company has enjoyed an excellent reputation in the caravanning trade and service sector.
Today, schaffer -mobil is now successfully managed by the second generation of the Schaffer family, Sören Schaffer, and presents more than 150 new and used vehicles, a modern accessories shop, an award-winning motorhome parking area, a type-independent specialist workshop with full service, and Saxony's largest motorhome and caravan rental service on over 30,000 m² of sales space at the CaravaningMeile in Dresden.

2019
- Our CaravaningPark is awarded the EMHC Feel-Good Place Award.
- schaffer-mobil becomes the official distribution partner of Autohome, the world market leader for car roof tents.
- The German Camping Club awards us the “DCC Seal of Approval.”
2018
- Expansion of the CaravaningMeile to include the new location at Kötzschenbroder Straße 145, with the brand area for KNAUS, VanTourer, and WEINSBERG, the ADAC rental station, and our expanded motorhome workshop.
2017
- Camping spot of the year 2017 – Special prize from the promobil expert jury in the “Traditional” category.
2016
- Installation of solar panels and a block-type thermal power station, conversion to LED lighting throughout the company.
- Upgrading of the parking space with a new fresh water and waste disposal system and a modern barrier system.
2015
- Award from the Handwerkskammer Dresden: “Exemplary training company” (training of motor vehicle mechatronics technicians)
2014
- Exhibition of a wheelchair-accessible motorhome at a trade fair in Tel Aviv (Israel)
- Opening of Weber® Premium Store (a wide range of barbecues are presented in a 50 m² space)
- Awarded “Das goldene C” (The Golden C) by the DCHV (German Caravaning Trade Association)
2013
- New, modern high-bay warehouse with a total area of 100 m², spread over two floors
2012
- Expansion of the CaravaningPark / rental caravans for friends and fellow travelers
2011
- Expansion of parking space by approx. 5,000 m² to approx. 100 parking spaces
- Partnership with Europe's largest caravanning retail chain – InterCaravaning
2010
- ADAC motorhome station with approx. 30 vehicles
- Spring opening with 20th anniversary
2009
- First driver safety training course by schaffer-mobil at the DEKRA test site at the Eurospeedway Lausitz
- 10th customer trip to Mauterndorf (with 15 motorhomes)
- First own workshop trade fair appearance at TC in Leipzig
2008
- First issue of our customer magazine “schafferNews”
- schaffer-mobil becomes the first Goldschmitt Service Center in eastern Germany
- Construction of a service building with a spacious service reception area, 5 additional workstations for heavy vehicles, a separate warehouse, a wash bay, and sanitary facilities for our parking lot guests
2007
- Miss Dresden 2007 contest at schaffer-mobil
- Opening of our new MOVERA camping and caravanning shop – on site and online
2006
- Founding of motor-caravan Dresden GmbH (distributor of Dethleffs, Sunlight, and Concorde); CaravaningMeile Dresden is created: with three large exhibition areas and six different brands.
2004
- Establishment of a workshop with FIAT AG service standards, FIAT service contract.
2003
- Start of operations in Italy – rental of 12 fully equipped caravans in Sesto (summer and winter)
- Expansion of the company premises for Hobby brand caravans.
2002
- Start of operations in Hungary – rental of 30 fixed caravans at Lake Balaton.
- Flooding of the company by the flood of the century – a setback for many affected companies in the region.
2000
- First joint customer trip to Hungary (with approx. 30 motorhomes)
- 10th company anniversary, inauguration of our vehicle showroom
1998
- Opening of our own parking space
1997
- Doubling of workshop space
- Sales and service agreement with Europe's largest caravan manufacturer Hobby
1996
- Exhibition of a presentation vehicle at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf
1995
- Conversion of vehicles for the ADAC, IHK, and AOK into information and presentation vehicles
1993
- Move to Kötzschenbroder Str. with new building and service rooms
1991
- Change of name to “schaffer-mobil Wohnmobile GmbH.”
1990
- Founded as “mobil GmbH” (rental of office vehicles equipped with fax, C-network telephone, copier, etc.).
- Sales and service agreement with the manufacturer HYMER, making it one of the first service workshops for recreational vehicles in eastern Germany.
